Many of God’s Earth-born children have forgotten about Him, and many more who do believe in Him cherish a false picture of His character. The great Creator God has been terribly maligned; He is often presented as being unforgiving, exacting and severe. And consequently, believing these false reports, many live in fear of Him, and some even hate Him. Jesus Christ came to display to the world that the Creator God is a loving God, who delights in forgiveness, tenderness, compassion and mercy. Jesus’ wonderful life of love and goodness swept away the thick darkness of lies about God and presented Him to mankind in His true light as the loving, kind, gracious, generous, forgiving, merciful God that He is.
It saddens Jesus as He beholds His Earth-born children so occupied with day to day cares and pursuits that they leave themselves no time to get to know God. For many, Heaven is a foreign land, and it has disappeared entirely out of their thoughts. Being unfamiliar with Heavenly things, they become weary of hearing about them. They don’t want their busy and hurried minds to be agitated in regard to their need of salvation. But Jesus desires to arouse our minds and hearts that we may become familiar with Him while there is still time to accept His wonderful offer of salvation and eternal life.
We are living in the day of God’s salvation. The glorious light from the Cross of Calvary is shining upon us in distinct and luminous rays. Jesus is manifested to us as our Sacrifice for sin: “We have redemption through his blood, and the forgiveness of sins” (Ephesians 1:7). God earnestly wants to restore His image in each one of us. We must believe that God is our Helper. Let us resolve to become acquainted with Him. And as we respond to God’s drawing, and come to Him with confession and repentance, His infinite heart of love, will shower us with abundant tenderness, forgiveness, mercy and LOVE.
