Jesus

When Jesus Christ came to this world He was the untiring helper of men and women. He veiled His divinity with humanity so that He could be as one of us, a sharer in our poverty, toil and grief. Jesus showed His love for us in everything that He said and did.

Day by day He could be heard speaking hope to the despondent and peace to the troubled. Always tender-hearted, compassionate, merciful and full of love, He went about doing good, lifting up the depressed, and comforting those whose hearts were heavy under a load of care. Everyone that came to Him left His presence helped. He brought hope and happiness to all. Wherever He went blessings followed.

The life of Jesus was a self-sacrificing life. He came to this world to walk and work among the suffering and disadvantaged. He walked in and out among the people for whom He did so much, unrecognized and unhonoured. He was the owner of the whole world, but He had no home in it. “Foxes have holes,” He said, “and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Christ’s compassion knew no limit. His work of healing and teaching was conducted on so large a scale that there was no building in Palestine large enough to hold the throngs of people that flocked to hear Him. In every place where there were hearts open to hear His message, He would heal the people and point them to their heavenly Father.

Jesus would pass through towns and villages healing the sick and dying, and when He left all was health and happiness. Jesus lived a life of prayer. Surrounded by temptation, constantly harassed by the leaders of the people, He knew that He must strengthen His humanity by prayer. He knew that He must commune with God daily in order to be a blessing to others.

Jesus came to this world to demonstrate to us that by receiving power from on high man can live a righteous life. By love and tender compassion, Jesus works in our behalf with gracious helpfulness and unwavering patience. By His gentle touch of love He drives from our souls anxiety and disbelief, changing our unbelief to confidence and faith. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us … full of grace and truth.”
