Perfect Peace

14 September 2026

So often our hearts ache under the burden of all our cares.  The continual worry wears out our life forces.  Jesus wants us to shake off this fretfulness and distress.  Jesus invites us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and He promises that all things necessary for this life shall be given to us. Worry is blind, and cannot foresee the future; but Jesus knows the end from the beginning. In every predicament we find ourselves in He has His plans to bring relief. Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us of which we know nothing.  If we will make the service and honor of God supreme, we will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before our feet.

When Jesus walked among men on this Earth He had perfect harmony with God; He enjoyed perfect peace.  Jesus was never elevated by applause, nor was He despondent when reproached or disappointed.  When enduring the greatest opposition and the most cruel treatment, He was of good courage still.  But many times we fail to emulate His wonderful example and we have anxious, troubled hearts because we are afraid to trust ourselves with God. We do not make a complete surrender to Him.  Unless we make this surrender we cannot find peace.

When we take Christ at His word and surrender our lives to His keeping and direction, we will find peace and serenity.  Nothing in this world can make us sad when Jesus makes us happy by His presence. When we yield ourselves to Jesus we will enjoy perfect rest. The Lord says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusts in Thee.” Isaiah 26:3. Our lives may seem a tangle; but as we commit ourselves to our glorious Saviour, He will bring out the pattern of the life and character that will be to His own glory.

The closer we come to God, the more intense will be our happiness.  As we walk with Jesus in this life, we may be filled with His love and fully satisfied with His presence.
