The Heavenly City

The Heavenly City

We are journeying towards the heavenly city. The heavenly kingdom is our place of rest. There is no sadness there. No sorrow, no death, no pain, no crying will ever be heard. We shall witness the coronation of our King and Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ. God’s earth born children who have fought the good fight of faith, will shine forth with the glory of Jesus in the eternal kingdom of God. We shall soon see Him in whom we have believed, and in whom our hope of eternal life is centered; and in the presence of Jesus all the trials and tribulations of this life will be as nothing. Lift up your heads and let your faith rise higher and higher. This continually increasing faith will guide you along the path that leads to the city of God – The great beyond, where the wide, unbounded future of glory is waiting for the redeemed!

When God’s earth born children place their affections on heaven and heavenly things, they will grow in grace, because they will see the compassion, tenderness, mercy and goodness of God. The love that God has lavished upon them will draw a response; and as they cease looking at the things of the earth and set their desires on heaven, their lives will reveal that God is uppermost in their hearts and minds. When we think of heaven, we may extend our contemplation to the uppermost; and stretch our imagination to the maximum degree; and think the grandest thoughts that we are able to think; and our minds will become exhausted in the attempt to perceive the height, and depth and breadth of the infinite and everlasting subject.  It is absolutely impossible for us to grasp the tremendous themes of heaven and a life that is eternal.

It is impossible to even make an effort to comprehend these things without the very effort influencing our hearts and minds for good, and having a transforming effect on our character. As we ponder how Christ came to this world to die for the human race, we will understand in a very tiny way the price that He has paid for our redemption. If we find no pleasure in talking about God and thinking about Him in this life, we will not enjoy heaven, where God is ever present living among His people. But, all who love God, having their sweetest thoughts for, and of Him will be enraptured in His eternal presence; they will delight in breathing the pure atmosphere of heaven, and partaking of its pleasures. We must not lose heaven. Let us always talk and think of this wonderful place, where there is no pain, sickness or death.

Jesus Christ will soon return to take those who are ready, to His glorious home. The more we think and talk of Jesus, the more we shall reflect His character. By beholding we will become transformed into His glorious image. The closer we come to Jesus the more of His matchless charms we shall see. We shall soon hear the voice of Jesus Christ richer than any music, saying, “Enter into the joy of your Lord”. How amazing the thought that we can be among the number that shall hear these wonderful words from His immortal lips. All praise and honour to Him that sits on the throne. God help us, and fill us with all strength and power, that we may be accounted worthy to experience the joys of the world to come!

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.”  Hebrews 10: 35-37

GOD LOVES YOU!
