The Creator God’s Infinite Power Displayed

The Creator God’s Infinite Power Displayed

The glorious things of nature bear witness to the Creator God who is infinite in power, abundant in love, goodness and mercy, who created the earth, and filled it with life and joy.  All things reveal the workmanship of the great Master Artist. Wherever we turn, we may hear the voice of God, and see the evidence of His grace.  The receptive mind when brought into contact with the miracle and mysteries of the vast universe cannot help but recognize the marvellous working of infinite power.  Not by its own natural energy does the earth yield its abundance of plant and animal life, and year by year continue its orbit around the sun.

Planet Earth Created by God

The unseen hand of God directs the planets in their journey through the heavens.  A mysterious energy permeates all of nature.  An energy that upholds the unnumbered worlds throughout the immense universe, that lives in the tiniest insect that floats in the spring breeze, that empowers the flight of the soaring eagle and feeds the baby birds which cry for food in their nest, that causes the bud to blossom and the flower to fruit. This same power that sustains nature, works also in human beings. The same great laws that guide the planets and the atom control human life. The laws that command the heart’s action, regulating the current of life in the human body, are the laws of the mighty Intelligence that has the sovereignty of the human soul. From the Creator God proceeds all life.

We Shall Be With God

The unseen is illustrated by the seen. On everything upon the earth, from the loftiest tree of the forest to the moss that clings to the rock, from the boundless ocean to the tiniest shell on the shore, we behold the handiwork and signature of God.  The everlasting hills testify to His power.  The trees that wave their green banners in the sunshine, and the myriad varieties of flowers with their delicate beauty, point to the Creator God who is the designer of all things. The luxurious green grass reveals to us God’s care for the humblest of His creatures. The caves of the sea and the depths of the earth reveal His countless treasures. He who placed the pearl in the oyster and the gold and diamonds among the rocks is a lover of the beautiful.

Oyster & Pearl

The magnificent sun rising in the sky represents Him who is the life and light of all that He has created.  All that brightens the earth with its beauty, and lights up the heavens testifies of God; and speaks of His tender, fatherly care and His desire to make His earth born children happy.  As we behold the glorious scenes painted by the great Master Artist upon the shifting canvas of the sky, with their spectacular colors varying in contrast and blended in harmony, as we become acquainted with the wonders of earth and sea and sky; in contemplation of all His marvelous works, we learn of the Creator God and see His glory.

Wave at Sunset

From the thunder’s mighty boom and the ocean’s incessant roar, to the beautiful songs that make the forests vocal with melody, nature’s unnumbered voices declare God’s praise.  The blessed melodies of the singing birds, the blossoms with their sweet and varied fragrance filling the air, in rain, and in the resplendent sunshine, in the summer breeze and gentle dew, in ten thousand, and thousands upon thousands of objects in nature, the love of God is expressed.

All Glory to God

All of these exquisite things of nature are an expression of God’s character and power; but we are not to regard nature as God.  The artistic skill of the human artist produces very beautiful workmanship that delights the eye, and in these things reveals the thought and creativity of the designer. But the thing made is not the maker.  It is not the work, but the workman, that is counted worthy of honor.  So while nature expresses God’s thought, it is not nature, but the God of nature, that is to be exalted.
